We have created a list of the most frequently asked questions regarding our services,  and posted the answers here.  Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you do not see the answer to any questions/concerns that you may have.

Q:  Who can use this service to sell a vehicle?

A:  Private individuals as well as automotive dealers can use our service to sell a vehicle as long as you have a clear title, or unless the vehicle is being offered as a parts car, or salvage vehicle. You will maintain possession of your vehicle’s title during the consignment period, until the vehicle is sold, and we pay you.

Q:  Does Northcoast Car Consignment buy vehicles?

A:  Not normally! We don’t like to compete with our clients by offering to purchase their vehicles. We specialize in simply selling vehicles and this is why we are able to guarantee you top dollar for your vehicle! Occasionally, however, if you have a vehicle we like, and the price is right, then yes, we would consider purchasing your vehicle. After all… we are car guys! Just contact us and let us know what you have!

Q:  What types of vehicles will you sell?

A:  We will sell any type of vehicle regardless of condition. We sell Automobiles, pick-up trucks, commercial trucks, fleet vehicles, Suv’s, campers, trailers, boats, motorcycles, and more.

Q:  How long will it take to sell my vehicle?

A:  Our standard consignment period lasts for 30 days. Vehicles typically sell within 10-14 days from the time they are showcased throughout our network, however, there are many factors to consider when selling a vehicle, and therefore timeframe can vary. We have sold vehicles in as little as a few hours, up to a couple of months. After the standard consignment term has expired, we’ll contact you and we can tweak the campaign as needed to get your vehicle sold! With Northcoast Car Consignment, we’ll always, keep you updated on your campaign’s progress!

Q:  How much do you charge to sell a vehicle?

A: Our standard consignment service is Absolutely FREE!  After completing a thorough research on your vehicle, if we feel confident we can get you the price you wish to accept for your vehicle, we will then agree to take it in on standard consignment. If we cannot sell your vehicle during the consignment term, you pay us absolutely nothing! We make our money exclusively, by selling your vehicle at a slightly higher price than what you want for your vehicle. This is how we get paid. There are no other hidden costs, commissions, or fees of any kind.

Q:  What is standard consignment?

A:  Standard consignment is the way most of our vehicles are sold, and it is totally free. Standard consignment simply means, the vehicle is brought to our facility to be sold within the 30 day consignment term. The other forms of consignment we offer would include offsite consignment for automotive dealers, and special offsite consignment for private individuals. There is a charge for both forms of offsite consignment, which is 100% refundable upon successful sale of your vehicle.

Q:  What is offsite consignment and what is the cost for private individuals?

A:  Offsite consignment can be used for a few different reasons. For example your car is not drivable or for instance you have a boat that cannot be transported easily. Or perhaps you’d simply feel more comfortable not leaving your vehicle at our facility during the consignment period. Generally speaking, we suggest our standard consignment program which is FREE and also makes it much easier to sell you vehicle because it is showcased and available for convenient inspection at our facility. The cost for offsite consignment to private individuals is $129.95. This cost covers drive time to and from your location, all ad copy, pictures and marketing, and is fully refundable upon successful sale, through our service. No refund will be issued in the event that your vehicle does not sell, or if your vehicle is sold outside of the scope of our service.

Q:  I am a private individual who wants offsite consignment. I have more than one vehicle. Can I get a discount?

A:  Absolutely! If we can inspect all of your vehicles and perform all of the photo shoots during the same visit, we can offer the following discounts. Each additional vehicle will only cost an additional $64.95. Remember, these costs are 100% fully refundable upon successful sale, through our service. No refund will be issued in the event that your vehicles do not sell, or if your vehicles are sold outside of the scope of our service.

Q:   What are the offsite consignment terms for automotive dealers and what are the costs?

A:  As stated above, offsite consignment can be used for a few different reasons. For example your car is not drivable or for instance you have a boat that cannot be transported easily. Or perhaps you’d simply feel more comfortable not leaving your vehicle at our facility during the consignment period. As automobile dealers ourselves, we understand that it is important for you to have the inventory available on your lot as well, and this is ok! We’d be happy to come to you! Generally speaking however, we would still suggest our standard consignment program  which is totally FREE and also makes it much easier to sell you vehicle because it is showcased and available for convenient inspection at our facility. Chances are, if you are thinking about using our service to “move” some old, or stagnant inventory, then your lot won’t miss that vehicle anyways. The cost for offsite consignment to licensed automobile dealers is $99.95 per vehicle. This cost covers drive time to and from your location, all ad copy, pictures and marketing, and is fully refundable upon successful sale, through our service. No refund will be issued in the event that your vehicle does not sell, or if your vehicle is sold outside of the scope of our service.

Q:  I am a Licensed Auto Dealer who wants to use your offsite consignment services. Can I get a discount on multiple vehicles?

A:  Absolutely! If we come to your lot, inspect all of your vehicles, and perform all of the photo shoots during the same visit, we can offer the following discounts. Each additional vehicle will only cost an additional $49.95. Remember, these costs are 100% fully refundable upon successful sale, through our service. No refund will be issued in the event that your vehicles do not sell, or if your vehicles are sold outside of the scope of our service.

Q:  Why should I use Northcoast car Consignment versus selling my Vehicle on my own?

A:  There are several reasons why clients use our service. Some of the obvious reasons we have heard are listed below.

  • I’m not sure what my car is worth.

  • People don’t want to deal with the hassles associated with selling their car via classified ads.

All of this costs time and money… . We do it all for free!

With our proven track record backing each and every sale, you’ll be sure to get the highest amount possible for your vehicle in the end!

Q:  What if I need to take my vehicle before the consignment term ends?

A:  The standard 30 day consignment term can be broken down into four weeks. For whatever reason, if you need to withdraw your vehicle prior to the end of the standard consignment term, then the following fees will be imposed. Withdrawal prior to 14 days of consignment for private individuals is $129.95 and for automobile dealers the cost is $99.95. Withdrawal between 15-21 days, the fees are $64.95 for individuals, and $49.95 for dealers. There are no penalty fees for early termination of consignment beyond 21 days. These fees are in place in an effort to be fair to our sales staff. Researching, taking pictures, making phone calls, and listing a vehicle across several advertising platforms costs time and money. It is not fair for us to do all of this work, and then not be given a chance to actually sell your vehicle. The best way to avoid the early termination fee, is to be certain you actually do want to sell your vehicle, and then allow us the time we need to do so.

Q:  How will my vehicle be stored during the consignment period?

A:  Typically, vehicles in average condition are stored in our enclosed, lighted, outside lot. Our premises are located in a decent neighborhood and our lot is always padlocked during non-business hours. High end and classic vehicles are always stored indoors during the entire consignment period. If you have any questions or concerns regarding special storage for your vehicle, just let us know, and we’ll make sure we can accommodate.

Q:  I want to use your service, but my vehicle is not roadworthy. What can be done?

A:  At Northcoast Car Consignment we sell vehicles in any condition. If your car is wrecked, will not run, or a project car, you may have it towed to our facility, or we can arrange the tow for you. Please call us for a discounted quote on towing your vehicle to our location.
